I’m Joe Owens, originally from Dublin Ireland, living in Seattle. Educated in Newpark Comprehensive and Rockwell College Cashel.

EXPERIENCE:

FILM + TV:


1992: FAS CES - Mural, Model making. Jonathan Swift theme park with Labour Minister Michael Foot and former Monty Python Eric Idle.
1993: Film Base - Film Training: made three short films Directed one. TX RTE Blackbox.
1994: FAS STATCOM - Professional Production Assistant for TV & Film. TX RTE & MTV Europe.
1995: Camera Dept. Space Truckers - Clapper/loader on Dennis Hopper film.
1995: Made two shorts & five music vids - Jack L & Boyzone firsts.
1995: Merseyside productions (Manchester UK) - Production assistant, West Belfast for cross-border exchange program.

1995-6:Freelance Photographer - Noel Gavin/Allpix & The Star Newspaper Dublin.
1996-7: Australia - Photographer, Model Maker, Set Builder, Special Effects, Prop Construction Titles - Dark City, Matrix, The Thin Red Line, Babe, Starwars ep one.

1997-2004: Robert Doyle Photography, Charlie Collins, Irish Times, Irish Independent, Irish Examiner, Evening Herald, News of the World, The Irish Mirror, Price Waterhouse Cooper, The Irish Star & Noel Gavin/Allpix: Freelance photojournalism. And various religious publications under the umbrella group Veritas. I also shot for some political newspapers.
2004- Present: The Stranger, Human Rights Campaign, Real Estate Photography and other promotional work for independent clients. Freelance photojournalism.
Currently employed at Cameratechs.


Proud moments:
Involved in a project centering on the homeless scene in Dublin.
Partook in Michael Amondolia Bondi underprivileged kids weekend workshops. (Michael Amondolia has since won two world press photo awards).
Initiated photo-project documenting all of the existing cinemas in Dublin before their eventual destruction in the wake of super cinemas and multiplexes.
"Where There's Smoke" short film, TX RTE Irish National Television.
MTV Europe music video for Indigo.
Kennedy Miller productions produced props for The Thin Red Line.
